Dear Members of St. John’s,
It is the joy of our lives to know that our Lord continues to care for us in every season and circumstance. Because that is true we can live each day certain that we are saved and safe.
I hope everyone was able to enjoy your summer this year despite the virus precautions. As I mentioned back in June, I said I would update everyone on the Fall schedule regarding services and Sunday school.
As a reminder, while we are offering different worship options to meet the needs of our congregation, in all cases we will continue to maintain proper social distancing, eliminate touchpoints, provide masks, practice good hygiene, and disinfect surfaces before and after each service. And, as we’ve stated before, if you feel sick or if you feel more vulnerable due to age or an underlying condition, please stay home. Please note that starting on September 13th, we are adjusting the WiFi Communion start time to 9:30 a.m (it has been 9:15) in order to accommodate increased traffic in the parking lot with Sunday School starting. Here are the worship options:
In-Person Worship Options (all include Family-Isolated Communion)
- 8:00 – 9:00 am: “Mask Optional” Worship Service
- 10:30 – 11:30 am: “Mask Mandatory” Worship Service
Alternative / Virtual Worship Options (for those unable to attend in-person worship)
- 9:30 – 10:00 am: Walk-In Family-Isolated (WiFi) Communion in the Narthex
- 10:30 – 11:30 am: Live-Stream of the 10:30 Service
- After 10:30 am Service: Tape of the 10:30 Service will be posted for later viewing
Sunday school for adults and children will restart on September 13th at 9:15 a.m. For questions regarding children’s Sunday school, please contact Anna Lueker at email@example.com or 703-203-0253. For adult Sunday school, we will meet in the Fellowship Hall. Chairs will be socially distanced with masks optional. There will be plenty of space to spread out. For those not able to attend, a recording of the class will be provided. Please contact Lisa Walraven at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be on the mailing list for this.
Preschool reopened in-person on August 26th. Praise God for this! We have implemented all of the required virus precautions and have added extra deep cleaning on a regular basis. If you know of anyone looking for a wonderful, Christ-centered early childhood education, please have them contact our new Preschool Director, Felisha Abbott, at email@example.com .
We’ve been so blessed by your continuing and faithful contributions to St. John’s during the summer. Since the coronavirus precautions will be with us for the foreseeable future, we will continue offering multiple options to give in order to meet our financial obligations and outreach support. You may drop off your offering at the in-person service, at WiFi communion, mail your check directly to St. John’s, or give online through the electronic giving section of our website at https://stjohnslexington.org/worship/electronic-giving/. Praise God for the blessing!
As always, we are praying for one another, our church, our community, and our country. Doing so leaves all the work to our Lord and reminds us what a gift it is to be His people.
Living in Him with you,
